Jumpy rear wheels (braking and reversing).

Under heavy braking my car W124 is making a banging sound.., and yesterday I noticed reversing up a hill, the car wheel-spins a bit too easily in a shuddery manner.

What causes that then? - shocks? :?:

Most likely shocks - yes.

Try going over a sharp speed bump slowly and keep an eye on the back end.

It should not bounce more than once.

Look up inside the wheel arch at the shocks, you may be able to see evidence of leakage.
