just a bad coinidence?

anyone every hear of the Glow Plug Relay AND the Alternator going @ the same time???? :evil:
I know my car turns 23 this month and it sat for about two-three months before i drove it again and then these problem(s) happened, but it just seemed odd that my mechanic claimed it was both parts....

-just any thoughts on it before i pay the guy.

i would be surprised if the relay had gone down - it would be almost impossible to start if it was dead.

alternator - with it sitting for 3 months, there is the possibility that the brushes / stator might have corroded a bit and on re-start damaged it (think rusty disks and damage to pads on brakes, similar principle)
