Just bagged myself my first E

Hi all.
On my previous introduction thread I was looking at an E350 bit on viewing it had far too many marks on the bodywork for my liking. So kept on looking and 2 days ago I found a nice E250 with full Merc history and the bodywork is near enough perfect. So I snapped it up
Its a 2013 62plate with 76k on the clock.
Ill be getting a full service done in January. Is there any preventative maintenance that I should take?

Check the gearbox service schedule , may be 75k on that model ?

Also find or travel to a good independent specialist for some of the work

Was done at 65k in 2018 so not got to worry about that for a while.
I have a mate with a garage that can do the work and do it right thankfully

Preventative maintenance is ensuring its timely serviced by a competent merc indy and not skipping issues

Hello from another E250 owner.
Things I have come across in 4 years of ownership and some are common issues that I haven't had.
Watch for timing chain rattle (haven't had)
Inlet manifold issues (had)
Exhaust/pressure sensors (had)
Waterpump leak (had)
Fuel filter housing leak (just sorted)

Other than that the car is solid and pulls like a train.
You'll love it.

Thanks for the heads up. What i have noticed is there sounds like a high pitch sort of rattle from left front of the engine. Only goes when engine is warm.. is this like what you have experienced? Should I be contacting the garage that I got it from?

Best thing is to take a video of it and upload it on here. I can compare it against my car. Plus loads super knowledgeable folk on here will have an unput.

Sounds like a very very slight engine pulley noise to me.

To put your mind at rest here's mine from 1 year ago. Never got it sorted and it's gone haven't heard it for months.

Ill get my mechanic guy do have a listen when he does the service and if he thinks there's an issue that isn't an easy fix ill get it back to the dealer

The fix will be more labour than out else. Just a bit of stopping out to do.

Make sure your mechanic is well versed in mercs and is preferably a merc indy.
You can save ALOT (time, money, parts) having a good merc indy.
