Can any recommend a obd code reader what doesn't break the bank on a older mercedes w211
E280
2006 MODEL year
That can reset sevice lights and read fault codes for the future so I can work on her.

Icarsoft MB version 3 which I think is the latest. A pre owned ( as this is a Mercedes Benz site ) MBII is fine if upto date with software.
Just buy it from a reputable dealer..

I bought my Icarsoft mb obd for my w211 2006 e320 some years ago. It has proved invaluable, I have used it many times.

I have an electronic braking system (SBC) and you have to depressurize (and later pressurize when your work is done) the braking system as a safety measure before any brake work (pads/discs/new fluid etc) is performed, so it's great for that.

I have changed the gear oil which requires oil temperature during the process, which you can access to on the obd.

It is also good for fault codes, say if you have a wheel speed sensor issue - the unit will identify which wheel is the problem sensor of your ABS.

For just over £100 it easily pays for itself.
