80mph on the M25? Well done! 2am was it?
Don't think I've ever seen a 4 door car without them. I've certainly never owned one that didn't. Normally called "child locks"

You absolutely correct of course. Top speed was officially 78mph. With a tail wind. Downhill. On 5 star petrol. And a Peco exhaust system. And a 13" steering wheel.

Don't forget the Furry Dice - and the go-faster stripes.!

Would need a 155mph speed limiter fitted, though...

On a more serious note,

Hasn't every 4 door car since the 1960's has these locks as standard?
I would be very surprised if anyone made a car that young children could let themselves out of at 70mph on the motorway.

mine was clearly the much advanced 1970 version, because I am sure it had an official top speed of 80mph. Also claimed 0 - 60 in around 25 seconds. Interestingly I also remember that it claimed to acheive 30 mpg at a constant 70 mph, which is worse than my current S320 petrol achieves at a constant 70 mph.

When the engine failed I sourced a used 1300cc engine / gearbox unit, I thought that went like the wind, I hardly dare consider just how slow that really was.

It did of course have child locks on the back doors.

Mark.

Must be VERY strong children to open the door against a 70mph rush of air.!! If they were hell-bent on trying it, couldn't they just open a window and leap out?

Question. I wonder how many children lept out of cars, prior to childproof locks being fitted? Must have been thousands...:rolleyes:

It was worse when the doors were hung on the B pillar, with the front doors forward opening
