I have had 12 Mercs , I only have 2 at present. I wish I still had my first , a 1974 230/4 W115. Fantastic car. But only 28 mpg if you did not abuse the power. All of Europe with a caravan and speedboat on the roof.
Fuel consumption has always been a concern. My 1989 E300 was good but it was a tractor engine. Now retired but very active with classic cars.
My c220cdi is now my trailer tow car. I have mountains of knowledge of post 1970 Mercs so if someone has a problem I may be able to help. I do get problems with the very latest electric troubles. ( So do the main dealers) . They still cannot correct a reversing message on a B Class.

Hello and welcome
I too have had quite a number of Mercedes from 1960 to 2009, '68 250 Compact which was a nice car and simple to work on., also had 240d, can't remember the year but same shape as the '68 250, both 4 speed manuals and the same exterior colour. The diesel was slow and did about 25 mpg.
I've about 3 old Triumphs so like my classic's too

Welcome. We only go back 20 years with Merc, but have had 6 so far.
I was in the army in Germany in the 70's & a keen caravaner, started with a Renault 5TS & a 10ft Sprite. Followed by a Renault 16TX, finally a 20TS towing a German 4.5 metre van.
