Hellooo everyone!

I have just traded my Audi TT in for a 54reg C230. I thought I would come and say hello! I'm looking forward to picking up the C-class as I love them! :D

I do have one question if anyone is able to help. The car has a phone key pad next to the stereo however it says no phone when you press the buttons. How would I setup my mobile to work with this?

Any info would be great!

Thank You
Mike

You need to buy a craddle to fit your phone and car, This is Then located in the arm rest, provided your car has telephone pre wiring.

Open the armrest top see if there is a craddle or little black plastic triangle under which the phone craddle connections are!!

Thank you for the reply! I will have a look when I visit the dealer tomorrow but I don't think there is any wiring there. If there is not any wiring there where does that leave me?

Thanx again!

You shouldnt see the wiring, it will be hiden in the console. Ask the dealer if it is telephone pre-wired.

A merc kit can be retro fitted at a cost, or a non merc kit will be cheaper but not as tidy or work as well with the car.

I will ask them then :) I want to keep it oem so if not I'm sure they will charge me greatly for the pleasure of having it retrofitted!

Any ideas on the cost? Thanks again for the swift reply!!

I went for the Parrot bluetooth kit which is excellent. I believe Parrot now have a module that enables you to use the steering wheel phone controls. Not sure about the stereo key pad but probably worth checking out and a fraction of the cost of the OEM kit. The great thing with the Parrot is it supports the address book of 4 or 5 phones (can't remember the exact number) and it gives you more flexibility if you change phones every year or so.

Thanx for the reply moosehead what model have you got? Do you have a link to it :) If I could still use the steering control that would be great!

I would like to go for the OEM mercedes phone kit but if it is a silly price I will look into alternatives.

a bit cheaper than braybrookes but do add in the extras - cradle @£130-£400, trim etc.

Parrott and the wheel module is a much better bet. You won't be able to use the dash dialing buttons but I rarely use mine and actually I find the prewire slightly less convenient than the old nokia kit I used to have.
One thing I find irritating is -
You're walking towards the car and want to make a call but don't want to hold the handset so you figure you'll wait until you're on hands free. Plug the phone in, start the car and hit the tel button, only to see "Processing" . Wait 30 secs and its still b*!*&*y processing. I'd have finished the call by the time it wakes up if I had the nokia kit.

I have the Parrot CK3100. I had it professionally fitted about 18 months ago and I think it was around £200 all in. The steering wheel option is the Parrot MULTICAN. I don't have this but it is available for the C Class.

Hi there, hope you enjoy your car! We got a new craddle for our C220 it cost £150 plus then changed the phone to match another £70 - you must match your craddle to the phone. dont bother with the expensive bluetooth option Merc will offer it doesn't work very well. but Parrots are good if you change phones a lot they are the best next thing - but really if your car is wired up then its silly not be be able to use.

good luck

Thanx for all the replies! I will take the car to Mercedes when I pick it up and see if I have the wiring installed or not.

Im not sure which route I will go down then but if the kit costs £400 alone I doubt I will get Mercedes to fit it! :)

Decisions decisions.
