K&N air filter is it worth it?

Hi All,

Service due on my CLS500(c218) and I was wondering if it is worth to put k&n air filters on. What are real benefits? Sound, power, fuel efficiency, anything?

Only benefit is profit to K&N

The oil you use on the K&N’s can be detrimental to sensors in the intake tract. Stick with MB paper air filters. Only time a non paper filter would give advantages would be where the paper type could get very wet and possibly distintegrate like an off road vehicle.

Agree with the above from experience donkeys years ago. It is a pointless part.

I fitted 4 of them to a Honda CB750 many years ago, I'd oiled them far too liberally, for the next few hundred miles the bike smoked like a 2 stroke, never noticed any benefits either.

Stick to original, cheap and they work filtering the air.
