Has anyone used/using KN air filters on 210 E320cdi. I have 2002 model & wonder if they offer any mpg or performance benefits. All feedback welcome. Thanks.

This is a quite talked about subject, some folk love them, others say that the noise level is too high when using a K&N complete filter. Some love the roar when accelerating. Some say that the oiled insert thats used with your own casing puts oil onto the MAF, others say that it does not,

I bet that the answer will be very mixed.

I took mine off my ML270 CDI as i wanted to see if a paper filter made a difference, fuel economy was the same, powere seemed slightly less and the induction roar dissapeared which I miss and when I checked the MAF there was no signs of oil. When I buy the chemicals to clean the K & N I shall put it back in but being careful not to over oil just in case it does ruin the MAF, I intend to fit a new MAF anyway to see if that makes a difference.

I am just coming back to this as the question was for a diesel.

Theoretically they should be far more efficient on a diesel as the air flow through the filter is far higher than on a petrol.

Haven't noticed any increase in performance .
But my 13 year old son loves the noise when accelerating ;) ( He bought it for the car :) )
I think the increased air flow may have had an influence on my exhaust though . As after fitting it the back pipe found a weak spot :(

Personally I think they're snake oil, and a waste of money.
