Key fob won't turn

E240 2000. Went to car this morning and unlocked fine but fob will not turn in ignition. Got spare and this worked ok. Got new batteries for the original fob but still no joy. It is the 3 button plug type of fob. Is it knackered or in need of a re-sync, if so can I do this or is it a dealer job?
Thanks for any help:confused:

If the other key works, then the key is faulty one thing that you can try is to clean the red lens on the end,and the red lens inside the ignition switch with a cloth on the end of a blunt instrument, if all of the buttons do not work, then it will be a new key

You could try repairing it along the lines of the W202 keyfob repair in the DIY section.

Just as tip, you can buy the keys from Ebay and slide out the PCB from you old one, re solder the tactile switches and put back into the new plastic case

I slid out the PCD from the non working fob and a black part had come broken loose (at the end 10mmx2mm x2mm). Tried to re-solder back on but no joy, still not turning. Looks like a new fob or one off ebay which will need a resync some how.

Do not buy a key from Ebay it will never work, if you wish to post the faulty one to me I can see if it can be repaired at no cost to you.
