coil measures about 3-4 ohms so looks ok
my problem is starting the car
lock unlock is fine
is there anything else i can check?

That reading is very high but this could be your set up, you need to check how well the coil is soldered on the PCB, they can look OK but be dry jointed. You measure on the PCB and not the coil, if too much solder is used then the key will not slide back into the case

hi there great thread you have here , im after a little info if any of you know the answer,
i have just bought a none running s class same key as in original post.
key wont turn , so obvious keyy or eis is at fault , i have no spare keyy

i took apart key to check for dry joints etc......
wow what a mess

the copper coils is in 2 bits and the solder pad at the end of the key is GONE , also the infra red square component next to the coil is gone.

so heres my questions

is the coil the actual trnspondeR?
can the coils be swapped between keys?

can the component next to the coil be swapped between keys?

is the pad for coil next to edge of key just a fixing pad or does it serve a purpose?

if i swap the 2 processors from 1 key to another will the donar key work?

thanks in advance for any help offered. rather exhaust this method before new key. i do think the eis is ok.

E 220 FAULTY KEY FOB 2003 MODEL

hi all new to this forum hope someone can point me in the right direction
i have just purchased a 2003 model E220 derv estate starts and runs fine but the key fob wont operate anything also there is no flashing LED
i have changed the batterys but now iam stumped i can not lock or unlock with the fob
