Key not working w211 2007 model

Hi everyone, unfortunately my cars key fell of my hand on the floor today. After that none of the buttons are working neither the light in the fob and IR light blinks no matter what I do. I opened the door with that manual key and the key could start the engine which is a big relief. What should I do? What could be the possible reasons for fob going dead? Thank you

Could be a broken connection on the board in the key. I’d take it apart (as if you’re going to change the battery then carefully slide out the circuit board and look for damage.

I think you have dislodged the transmitter coil.

Good call for the RF side, the IR would still work though
