KEY REMOTE LOCKING/ UNLOCKING PROBLEM

I replaced the battery in my spare key which has not been used for a few years. The key starts the engine but does not lock and unlock the car remotely.
I wonder if the key needs reprogramming or is there a simple fix to reinstate the locking/ unlocking function?

Could be the coil in the key has become dislodged due to dropping of the key.

If you’re handy with a soldering iron, open it up and take a look.
