Key wont turn

Hi Guys
Hope you guys are doin well!
I seem to be having issues with my SL55 2004 model.
The mileage as dissappeared,car wont lock or unlock via the key.
Key will not turn over
Unable to run a diagnostic test,
Unable to read EIS.
Purchased a 2nd hand EIS of ebay but still unable to read eis via diagnostics
Any advice will be appreciated.

Firstly what condition are the batteries in and do you have any water leaks?

Yes batteries. When the battery was dead on my w220 it was the same. No life. electronics all cut out without the car even attempting to turn.

Cold weather finds a weak battery as is common this time of year.

Get a multimeter across the battery to verify.

2× Batteries is a abt year old
I found the can connector corroded under left side mat repaired wiring and renewed Can block. I dnt see any water leaks im currently owning the car now for 4months.
I have spent alomost a month now trying to get this beaut to start up again but im loosing hope now
I purchased a 2nd hand eis off ebay but the part numbers are not the same as well

Don't give up, it is a fab car.

Can you get the car to reputable independent Mercedes Specialist near you ? It may be worth spending a few pounds to get it working, hopefully it is nothing much. Don't keep guessing and replacing parts with used eBay parts that don't work. That is the way to get disillusioned very quick.

Tell us roughly where you live and we can suggest someone good who will not spend your money.

Also consumer battery needs to be Mercedes AGM type, Halfords special won't do.

Im in south africa,i do repairs on mercedes benz and i also have the star diagnostic machine but this one has got me stumped.
Any common issues that i am missing ?

Hi Guys
Hope you guys are keeping well and safe.
My SL 55 has been sitting with the MB dealer for a month, new eis fitted the vehicle started up once after programming the new eis intial start up the vehicle does not start or come out of park. Now they are lost aswell. My question is when you guys replaced your old eis with the new eis did the key have to be replaced . The old key is 2004 and the new eis is 2021 will the software match,the old eis has two microchips and the new eis has one. Any ideas here?
