Hi All, I am new to this forum so please bear with me. I have just got a 98 320 clk sport. Very pleased on the whole , had a couple of electrical niggles which luckily turned ot to be 2 loose battery connections so all is fine again. Before I discovered it was the battery connections I thought the temperamental starting problem was caused by the key / immobiliser and having only got the one key with the car I want to know how much to expect to pay for a new replacement key / fob and does it have to be a genuine merc part or does anyone know of a generic type

thanks
Rob

Hi Rob
I bought a new key for my 1998 SLK from the stealership, and it cost me £84. It took two days to arrive and they progammed it for me. You will need your reg doc. and identification ( passport, bus pass, etc) Don't know if you can get a "pattern" key though.
Best Regards

no you can't get generic keys. I beleive the 98 model has the electronic key in which case definatley not. If its the earlier flick key, then yes, you can have one cut at your local shoe repairer, but then you don't have the remote.
