Hi all,

Just wondered if any of you guys have had your cars keyed? (i.e. cars scratched on purpose usually with a set of keys) and if so, how many times?

I been keyed twice now  ... and it's ****ing me off! Last time was Yesterday (
Just wondered if there's anyway I can paint over this or use the touchup stick to sorta cover it up?

Thought i'd stick a poll here anyway, cos there's the option to.

ermm don't seem to be able to vote... dunno why tho...

Added a no option, but the poll still doesn't seem to be working...

Sorry to hear about yours,

we had our W123 done a couple of months back

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/andy_k/images1.html

The local bodyshop quoted just over £1000 to deal with it, the insurance company paid out, we decided against the respray, sold the car and bought a W124 230TE.

Shame we loved the old W123 but it's gone to a good home

Yup,
I've been keyed. Not bothered to go for the full respray, touched it in with official colour, tcut a few times. etc etc..... You can still see it but it isnt as bad.
I wouldnt advise it on a newish, shiny car though. Mine is getting on a bit now, and has countless scars and bumps...
I would like to snap every single finger of the little b****** if I caught them.
Regards to all.
Mike.

I had my back door/ wing done but I was lucky they used a sharp item poss' a diamond ring as it was very very narrow just like when you scratch glass.

It is still there but being a silver car its not to bad.

The wifes 6 yr old Fiesta was done a few months ago, but the b*stards used a flat wide implement like a screw driver. It was about 3mm wide and splintered / chipped either side of scratch.

They started on the wing and finished at the back door.

You have expect it on a Merc' but a bottom of the range 6 yr old Fiesta  .

I actually wouldnt want to catch them as I know I would end up like Mr Martin who shot at the burglars in his farm house  .

Does it count when you put your car in for a service at Greenoaks - YES I SAID GREENOAKS and the little T*$t who takes the wheels off puts a nice little circular scratch in the wheelarch......

Apart from that I suppose I've been hammered - the wife's car had its drivers door stove in by some ignoramus whislt parked outside our old house - 3 years to build up the no claims. That doesn't count the old blind git we actually watched drive into her car and then pull forward 3 spaces and wait 'til his wife came out of the village hall......

Sorry about the rant but mechanics who don't care are worse than vandals in my opinion - and we took my Granny's keys off her when she hit her own gatepost.....

same here...

And I forgot to put where they keyed me last....
some f*cker decided it would be nice to give me an extra point to the 3 pointed star on the boot lid.... So now i have a 4 point star on my boot. :x (which my gf thought was hilarious). She don't understand the bond between a man and his car!

the previous one was on the passenger side door, two scratches approx 40 cm in length and it was vertical, tried to polish it away, and it seemed to kinda work.... not really that visible. But this is gonna be replaced cos of the last accident I had being across the passenger side doors - so am killing two birds with one stone...

Guess what, My nearside rear door has recieved a good un today. In the works car park as well.
Looks like a zip mark from a coat or button. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGGGGGG

Just remember though folks (in relation to pauls e230 bit), reasonable force can be used to apprehend any person responsible for a criminal act (ie criminal damage). Tony Martin made the mistake of getting billy burglar on the way out (in the back) If he had let loose his 12 bore on billy burglars chest (ie on the way in, fearing for his life etc) Things may have been slightly different.

If I catch anyone damaging my car I will pull their ****** arms off.

Regards folks,
Mike.

How about a new question:

'Where have you park your car, when it was keyed???'

Now I have never tried this but my brother in law who works for a major car company perfected a method of getting rid of key marks before handing the company car back every 6 months. It is as follows:-

Obtain can of spray paint in correct body colour
spray lightly over scratch area/s (and I mean very, very lightly)
Wait for the paint to start drying
Use an abrasive polish and polish the scratch.
The new paint should stay in the scratch and the overspray will be polished away.
Now finish polishing the rest of the car!

This will save pounds if done right 8) or completly mess the car up if done wrong  . You have been warned.

i feel for everyone here

Yep had my boot keyed, managed to hide it well, then had my bonnet keyed deep and long, then had the whole length of the nearside keyed, and then had the other side scraped by someone who drove off!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyhone out there understand the mentality of these people!!!!!is it schoolkids? in both cases my car was parked on the routes many kids take home, now i was a bad kid but never went out to scratch peoples cars, but then again it could be an old biddy like the one that was caught on video after all the cars in a street were keyed again and again! I was going to go a step further than most peolple here and take a day off work, hide in the car under a blanket and then wait for the culprit to appear and try again and i am sure he would have as i left a bit message on the wall where i parked cursing the person who did this with everyword under the sun!!!!, BUT i opted not to do the stake out thing as i would have beat them to a pulp probably which woud have done my impeccable record as a law abiding citizen some serious damage

and on top of that took it for a respray in the affected areas and the job was done so shoddily i am still fuming!!!!!!they guy took no care at all too much overspray, thumbprints in places, so am taking it back or else!!!!!all i

Scratch

Yep I was scratched yesterday. Not just a light T-cut out scratch but a deep gash across the bonnet. Going to have to take it to be covered up now and I dread to think how much that will cost. Anyone know any reasonable priced body-work places in north london?

I don't understand how people can do it. If I see an expensive car I have respect for it, not think oh yeh i'll scratch it up! Even as a kid I would never have dreamed of doing it. I'd like to repay the scum by scratching up their face see how they like it!

I've had three cars keyed:

Jagaur XJ6 (X300) cost over £800 quid to put right, coz they went right down to the bare metal!
Wife's Ford sPuma (company car, so didn't cost, but annoying)
Volvo 760 GLE (never got it done, was used as a run around for the business, but the paint was mint before they did it)

I try not leave the Mercs where they're vunerable, as after restoring them it would break my heart if some swine keyed them.

It's a pointless, moronic act and I catch someone doing it to any of my beloved Mercs, it'll be round the back with a baseball bat.
