Keyless Entry

Hello
I am new here so please be kind ! I have just bought a 20 plate GLA AMG line and was really disappointed that it doesn’t have keyless entry .
Does anyone know if this can be fitted ? The handle of the drivers door looks the same as my friends A Class which does have keyless entry day so a bit confused why mine doesn’t . Also does anyone know what the black sticker on the handle means ?

So you don’t have keyless entry as such but you have the new Near Field Communication (NFC for short) locking with Mercedes Me. Not actually seen this yet so I’m afraid it may be a speak to the Mercedes Me Specialist at the dealer to walk you through how it all works

Better off without it pal,
Check your data card and see if it came with it from factory.
If it was a must you should have checked before you got the car.
Ask your dealer if something is missing if you can conform from the data card it was factory fit.

I would be concerned if I have it and didnt have the cards to operate.

All part of the key rather than cards now,
As above though the handles are noted as NFC so new way of getting into the car, should be more secure than the existing keyless system

Be happy.plenty of those get nicked.
I doubt its a worthwhile retro fit.benz seem to go out of their way to make that difficult ,incompatible harnesses ridiculous costs.

I recently bought a 2016 W222 S Class and was rather disappointed that it didn't have keyless entry, especially as the last 6 S Classes I've had have all had it and its hard to get used to opening the door with the key again.... mine does have keyless start however. The wife recently bought a 2019 JCW Mini and that has keyless entry, but now she is paranoid about making sure her key is put inside one of those special boxes every night after watching some of these car theft videos

Mercedes seem to be cheapening their cars thee days (Especially the S Class) which is a real shame...

Some of the things missing on the 2016 which appeared on my 2006 W221 include; no umbrella holder in the boot lid. Boot lid auto close via the button on the boot lid (every other one I've had has had this and it is a pain shutting the boot if your car is dirty!!), shopping bag hooks in the boot, carpetted top lining in the boot under the parcel shelf.... yes the W222 is a lovely and amazing car, but these "missing" things just seem to be penny pinching and from what I've read, it is a pain to retro fit the boot closer too!

It is a minor irritation having to keep putting the key into a Faraday Bag

NFC systems are only designed to have a typical read distance of a few inches - contactless payment cards use the same technology.
