I'm finding this forum really useful! And one more question ... my 280 SL has a little bench in the back, made up of two wooden boxes bolted to the floor/chassis. I've seen SL's with a third sideways facing seat in the back. Can I fit one into a 1969 280 SL, and if so, where can I buy one?

Kinder seat

Hello again Geneva,

If you didn't get last message, www.mercedes113,com for detailed info.

I have a 1969 280SL with a 'jump seat'. These were optional extras.  They are quite simple in construction and should not tax any proficient upholsterer / interior specialist. Have to say that in two years I've not come across one for sale in any MB parts specialist.

Have you got 'Original Mercedes SL' by Laurence Meredith, price about £20.00 sterling, available from Amazon.  In this book there is an excellent picture of the jump seat that could be used to make one.

Good Luck.
