i posted a thread a while back as my (e280 1995) car developed creaking steering following grounding at work.
we have since replaced the ball joints as were very worn, the front springs changed, shocks are new, all suspension and steering ok as extensively and painstakingly checked by garage( labour costs are through the roof!!!)
however the car is still creaking, particularly when moving off and braking and fine on smooth surfaces and straight roads but like a bag of spanners over rough and speed bumps.
i am getting a bit peeved now as i love the car but the costs are mounting up and not sure if the car is worth the extra cash.
any advice would be much appreciated.

It could be something as simple as front antiroll bar bushes OR the front wishbone bushes, particularily on the N/Side which get to hit all the potholes.

Have you tried using WD 40 on the suspension arms and springs? and especially the boot hinges as well.

I recently replaced the rear shocks on mine and now get the occasional creaking noise from there. I'll have to revisit the mounts sometime soon.
