I'd like to pick your collective brains about what issues are known to occur with the R170 SLK, and in particular the 32AMG.
I've had the car a few months now, all seems well, but reading the forums can scare you, as there are so many stories of different folks having different problems with different models
(I know why....we only ever talk about bad news, these cars are better built than most, we're enthusiasts, so we care more,aand notice more...but it would be good to be aware of what to expect....it sure helps when talking to the mechanics, asking them to look out for things at the next service etc)
I have seen multiple references to the intercooler pump failing (between 45 to 60k miles, so it seems). What is involved in the repair...what are the parts cost & labour time...what are the symptoms, so I'll know it's happened?
I also saw one post about "turning over the PME(?) module" as a precaution...can't find the post, even using the search. What on earth is that, and why do it?
Stone chips and rear tyre wear I already know. Roof and c/locking seem OK as yet.
Erm.....anything else I should watch for.....any precautionary maintenance I should undertake myself?
