Lack of ooompf

Having lent the car to the missus for a week, I now have an issue. not pointing fingers of course.

Started and was running fine, after sitting at a traffic light for a minute went to accelerate away and car felt as though it was driving over glue, engine seemed sluggish and just no 'go'. It appears as if the auto box was changing up way before needed, this didn't change when put into sport or manual mode. When in manual mode I was unable to change back down the box. I stopped, turned the car off and started and it was back to normal for a bit, then once again once stopped idling it didn't want to go when trying to pull away again.

Currently no engine management lights so any help will be great.

This may sound really daft, but… check that she hasn’t pushed the driver’s floor mat forwards and it’s blocking the kickdown switch on the loud pedal!
