I finaly managed to take the car out today properly (done 300 miles)

sometimes the car has not got any extra power eg going along at 60 kick down rev counter goes up to 4000 rpm speed goes up as quick as a tortoise, could not get over 90 out of it. stoped a while later started car went like a rocket kicked down and we were away 110 no problem. stopped a while later started it no guts again feels like the turbo nots kicking in or something. drove home tonight WONDERFUL !! engine temp between 80- 90 ?? outside temp on car reading today 33c could it be possible that its a tad hot under the bonnet. and turbo got to hot :?: temp on way home tonight 19c

IF YOU HAVE READ THIS FAR WELL DONE :D

Your Mercedes
A diesel
It either isn't fuelling up when the turbo is blowing or the turbo isn't blowing. Lack of boost can be down to the wastgate sticking open. (unlikley)
Probably either the air mass meter or the manifold pressure sensor are faulty, the more likley is the air mass meter.
If it doesnt know more air is being drawn into the engine it won't call for more fuel.

Also it could be detecting engine too hot and cutting back the fuel, but I doubt it, unless the sensor is faulty.

Firstly check all connections are good, including the ECU and diesel pump, as it sounds a bit spurious. After that it's proper diagnostics with a meter or at the dealer or Bosh diesel agent.

Agree. I't probably a fuel (mass flow meter, dirty filter etc) or a turbo problem. Engine temp of around 85-90 C is normal.

Hi Andy, I was wondering if you got to the bottom of this one as I'm suffering the same symptoms with my 98 E300TD.
I'd appreciate any insight you have to offer

Thanks in Advance
