My friends T1 camping van wont start up, the petrol i pumping, the starter goes around but i think that there is no spark.

At the moment i’m having problems locating the condensator for the distributor, the green cable ends with a yellow lump connected to the distributor. Is the condensator placed in the yellow lump? or within the distributor? or in the regulator in the other end of the green cable?

Vw fitted loads of different distributors to these. Some the condensor is within the distrbutor, some it’s external. The other end of the green wire is connected to the ignition coil.

I can se why there was a bit of confuison now, but its accutally a mercedes buss/van that i intended, a T1 (or TN/Bremer) van furnished into a camping van.

And i placed it in the wrong category, so ill end this thread and start a new one in the right place with a clearer description.

Thanx

Oh, it’s a TN! I thought you were on the wrong forum for a bit! Over here a T1 is a VW bus, most over here are campers. Sorry for getting the wrong end of the stick!

Condensers normally sit either internal to the distributor, attached to the distributor body or next to the coil. Normally they look like a small silver canister with a wire out one end and some kind of mounting on the body. To find it follow the wire from the points to the condenser. They cost next to nothing so if you find it's connection point you can simply disconnect and fit another to test.

Sorry for all the spamming. for future readers, I just want to share the solution that consisted of replacing the ignition module (if it is called that in English).
