Hi everyone

Could anyone give me any pointers on how to repair lacquer?

I had a small stone chip on my bonnet and a small spot of lacquer had come way too - after visiting a jet wash (lazy i know) it has now become a 3 inch patch of un lacquered paint!

Is it possible to lacquer the affected area and wet n dry it/ buff it - or do you think i'll have to have the whole bonnet resprayed?

Its an old W124 and im not totally anal about the repair being slightly visible but would like to protect the area to stop the lacquer coming away from the rest of the bonnet.

Any Ideas?

cheers

Sorry to hear about this, little can be done as it is not easy to blend clear lacquer, your car is finished in a 2 pack 2K paint, you can only buy cellulose based paint in an aerosol, this has a darker look, you are looking at around £150 to spray a bonnet if you strip the trim bits off
