Lamp Warning

Will this be activated by a blown fog lamp bulb? (which is the case - one front & one rear)

Thinking about the lamp control module problem I had in my BMW 5 series.

When my indicator bulb went, the dash warned, "right rear indicator out, back up bulb on".

Sure enough, the reversing light was used as the indicator until I replaced the bulb. Clever stuff!

Malcolm,I realise that you are responding to an enqiury about a CLK230,but I found out today by means of a Mk1 eyeball that one of my No. plate lamps on my W202 was out.Does this mean that the monitoring module is faulty, or is it just not as sophisticated as later models?

Possibly not on a 202 but not too sure

Think you have guessed correctly, Jay Gee.

My recent number plate bulb failure didn't register either. Having said this it may show up (on the dash) if both bulbs were to fail.

My car a 2002 does show every bulb, I even had one of the indicator bulbs out, and that showed as soon as I turned on the ign and left a fault code

Thanks for that,DoverSole. Now it's just a matter of changing the flaming bulb:x. Is it really not possible to just unscrew the lens carrier and do it that way?

It's an easy job, JayGee.

Unclip and remove the trim panel from inside the bootlid. Prise out the plastic retaining clips.
Reach inside the bootlid apertures and unclip the blown bulb.

Job done.
