Lcd odometer probs

Hi...

Have recently bought a 2000, c class 200k sport.

I have a problem with the LCD odometer display where it is vey dim in some places...dont think its the dimmer but i understand i can brighten it by using the buttons on dash with the door open.

I can see the mileage, but very dim..& looks like if you drop a watch & certain parts of the display are brighter than the others..

Do these have a bulb behind them, or is the display u/s?

i am afraid its a replacement or a repair, i think there are companies listed in mercedes enthusiast that repair them.

i have no idea about that, not something i would ever attempt, but sure its done if you know how, maybe someone else can help
