Hi guys…. I Have noticed a leak coming from this black casing. I have just bought this van last week. The person I bought it off said it’s just had a new clutch. Not sure if that has Anything to do with it. But have been underneath the van at least an hour and it’s definitely coming from that casing. Just on the edge where the gasket is. I have had my hand all round the casing and it’s bone dry on top. And that sensor switch is also dry.

I have marked on the pics . And the last pic is a library pic just to show what I mean. Does anyone no what’s behind that casing? Is this filled with oil ect? Sorry very clueless on vehicles lol

Thanks

So I guessin the tin cover is covererin a 5th speed gear extn addition to std 4 speed box? If so it's an easy fix, drain a lt of gbox oil. Remove tin cover, make new gasket, fix back, top oil, finished
Pretty confident but I old,!!! wait another confirmation.

Could be it was removed at some point, the nuts seems to have seen a spanner and it was not correctly refitted leading to a leak, eg, bend in cover, gasget not sitting tight not right toque,
You will only tell when you whip it off, new gasget, maybe new cover and the correct torque specs and you will be good to go.
