At last i got round to investigating this leak further, a new washer belw injector seemed to ease it for a day or so, but after cleaning all the hrd black residue from plastic housing and on injector itself i could find no problem, on very close inspection with a powerfull torch i saw a small hole where the leak appeared to be coming from, not any damage to threads as i was looking for but it actually appears to be on a little rim in the housing, i have added these pics if anyone can advise me, it looks quite worrying to be honest, how a hole can appear here?

I do not think that replacing it will cure the fault as the thread on the casting has blown. I was thinking that if this is the case would it be possible to drill a hole through the existing hole, tap it and insert a small screw.

This could be difficult if the bush is steel and the casting is alli as the drill can run away into the softer metal.

there are other ways

Just thought i'd add that where the hole has appeared there is actually a little indent where the plastic housing fits into place before screwing in the injector.

Been told this hole is supposed to be there, some type of pressure release? I took another injector out and noticed same hole above threads on that 1 too, so i trird swapping injectors over but still the leak persists.

Confirmed, the sooty leak is coming out off this small hole. I will be taking it to injector specalists some time next week and will post results.

On test 5 out of 6 were losing compression, all injectors were ' reseated ', i think the term was, and the problem cured. The car feels much more powerfull now.
