Hello,

I have a 1994 220TE and I have noticed a leak from the rubber high pressure expansion hose that connects the power steering pump to either the steering rack or the self levelling suspension. (This is the hose that runs just underneath the crankshaft pulley).

My question is, where does this hose go? I can't see without jacking the car up and taking off the engine undershield. The part number for the leaking item is 1243205654.

Also, can anyone tell me the purpose of the metal cooling loop that runs in front of the rad? Are the power steering and self-levelling circuits integrated in some way on later W124 estates?

Many thanks for your advice,

The power steering pump also serves (via another pump) the self-levelling. You'll have to trace the pipe to find out what it does unless someone can identify from the part number

The loop in front of the rad is a power steering fluid cooler

Power steering & self-levelling are separate systems. One some models the self-levelling pump is at the front of the camshaft and, on others, it's in the power steering pump

Thanks,

I think the leak is in the supply to the self levelling suspension.

Hydraulic pump is presumably a tandem pump.
