CLA shooting brake 200d
Good evening,

I am a new member to the forum so hello to all. I took ownership of my first Mercedes in August this year. I went for the CLA shooting Brake 200d and I am absolutely loving it.

I do apologise if this has already been asked before, my car is a 67 plate it has halogen head lamps and I am looking to find out if I can change these to LED lights? I have heard some people say that this is illegal.
If it is possible to do where can I get the lights from?
I have attached pictures of my cars current lights and a picture of the ones I am after.

Any advice or help is appreciated
Thanks

Hello and welcome

Just changing the halogen lamp out for an LED is illegal, you could change the whole lighting unit out for an LED version. It will be expensive though as most manufacturers charge >£1,000 per LED headlight…

Given the overall reliability with halogen vis a vis modern technology (LED, Xenon) and thier costs if something goes wrong, I would always prefer halogen, update the bulbs if you want more oompf

If you're unhappy with the performance of your standard halogen lights replace the bulbs with (legal) Osram Nightbreaker Laser or Nightbreaker 200 bulbs.

The difference in output is quite noticeable and they are what I run in my own H7 equipped
cars.

Yeah this is the reason I have reached out as I am unhappy with the halogens. I am going to look into the night breakers thanks for the advice and help.
