LED Taillight's

Can I replace my old taillights (fitted with normal bulbs) to LED taillights on the s211. I have replaced one then discovered that only the indicator worked.
I then noticed that the replacement unit is LED If I replace both with LED's would it work?

I dont think so due to the difference in wattage of the bulbs. The system will see the low wattage of the LED's as a fault & throw up bulb failure light.

Thank you sonic, yes it threw up all rear lights warning, bar indicator on the dash. So best leave as is then

You can buy more expensive LEDs that have a resistor mounted, so that they mimic the load to the canbus system.

maybe chat to these guys, or Halfords, rather than the variable “quality” items on the ‘Bay……

We have between us owned 6 MB's over the last 20 odd years, & only changed two H7 headlight bulbs on one of the SLK's.

The other 04 plate s211 has Led lights.
My 05 plate bulbs and a cracked lens, so j thought I'd swap out the cracked lens, little did I know the 04 ones were Led

Is the money pit an Avantgarde or Elegance? I was wondering if the Avantgarde came with LED in the spec. I just ran my vin through the online checker and there's no option I can see for LED rear lights and mine has them. Build date 20-04-2004. (My missus and Hitlers birthday. )

Exactlly. I have only changed headlamp bulbs in my W220 since 2004 once and one brake bulb in my W251.

I look after my sisters car (ford galaxy) and every year was a couple of bulbs out. i changed most bulbs to merc bulbs about 4 years ago. Not changed one since.

Neither, Money Pit is the 'Classic' no thrills order.
Standard bulbs and 50/60 watt headlights. Those are dangerous I do have xenon lights that I bought not long after buying the car, still haven't fitted them yet.

I tried LED reversing bulbs 3 different times all supposed to be canbus compatible. none worked.
Fitted the last ones to my 190B, no brighter than original ones.
From my experience don't bother.

That's a similar reaction wife gave yesterday on the way home and Money Pit's mileage clicked over to 158,000 miles. I said to her, 'I've done nearly 20,000 miles in Money Pit'

Intrigued, I did a little Googlefoo and see mention of the rear SAM module requiring changing to run the LED rear lights. Must be easier than a gearbox swap?

Yes she does actually and ghe way things are going, it won't be a silver dream machine, but a different make altogether
