Hello and welcome. :)

Which bush mounting in particular?

The engine mount on my W124 is oil damped, not aware of any others or whether it applies to a C.

What is the significance whether it is filled with oil or not ?????????

If we knew that, perhaps we could comment in a more constructive manner, because your question in itself is quite irrelevant.

As a previous poster mentioned the 124 series cars WERE filled with liquid mix, so the engines were effectively on floats, hence the good refinement of that generation of car.

I've done better than that, I've replaced them. A whopping £75 each from MB. Engine mounts that is. Have we established that's what we're talking about here then? :)

I have an oil leak, and been told it could be roll bar bushes, just querying if they are filled with liquid.
You needn't be so rude.!!!

I am sorry if I offended the person who replied to my question. My C Class 200 reg 2003 has 29,000 miles and I would have thought that roll bar bushes would have lasted longer than that!!! I am a very careful driver!!!

lesleyann I agree with you.

There is no oil in the roll bar links or bushes, you have a leak at the front of the engine I think, and this is running down onto the bar etc.

I would get an aerosol of engine cleaner and wash the front of the engine down, then you maybe able to see where it is coming from.

The front crankshaft seal sits over the bar, and a place that can leak.

I remember it well. :)

I don't think anyone meant to be rude or offend.

Roll bar bushes don't have oil in them, as Malcolm said you must have a leak from the engine somewhere.
Whatever you do don't go back to whoever did the first diagnosis. Let us know how you go.

Very unlikely but yes, possible. The front thrust arm bushes, or "caster" bushes are oil filled & if split badly enough, could leak. (THICK, BLACK OIL). I've only ever seem one leak & that was because it was pinched whilst being replaced................ by me:Oops::Oops:
