I bought a ML 270 CDI from Italy and had the car reported stolen before I could register car in UK. To sum up they got paid by me and then did Insurance fraud and got paid again.

I am in touch with Daimler Chrysler Italy who are trying to help, however, as there is now a trial going on, their help is limited. I have agreed not to sell car, however, the key has now been lost and and I can't start or drive it. Daimler Chrysler Italy are trying to get permission from the Insurance company to issue me with a key, however, I don't know how long that will take.

Any Ideas? I have paperwork, invoice Daimler Chrysler communication and am a Car Dealer in Cheshire who just happened to get stung with a very bad deal.

Sounds like a whole bundle of fun your having. You wil only get a key from MB that will work. Take the paperwork to your nearest MB dealer and see what they say.

The VIN will bring up all of the data in the MB computer and they can program a key. It does nat matter where the car was sold, lets face it ,you could be Italian here on holiday.
In the manuel it says if you lose a key,pop down to your MB dealer who will change all of the locks for you.

Thanks guys, unfortunately, as it now appears as 'stolen' on the MB computer, they say until the insurance company give permission, they can't issue a key. Just hoped ther maybe a short cut - it's not like I can do anything with it as I can't even register it on English plates till they give the go ahead.

If there was a short cut (and there isn't), it would not be good practice to list it on a forum  apart from breaking the forum rules (and we would never knowingly do that it ;) ) it could mean that all our nice MB's disappear during ther night :(
