Hi all,

I have. 2003 R230. The orange background lights on the heating controls and COMAND work fine most of the time, however, on occasion, they will dim to about a quarter of the brightness. It’s not to do with the light sensor. It seems to be some fault that is intermittent. Any thoughts on the potential cause would be appreciated. Thanks. Hobbo

Hi,

have the same problem here. I'm not getting any orange background lights more, it just on night dim mode all the time>during the day.

With Star Diagnose is OCP (N70) modul without faults, but actual values of light sensor are at 0.

Today i've disconected the white connector in OCP and the orange brightness came back. :)

So I suppose there must be problem with N70 module or rain-light sensor itself?

Update,
OCP module checked by electrician and looks ok, so I'm gonna go and find replacement rain/light sensor, which need adjusting by SD when installed...
Cheers

Another update,

the culprit was rain/light sensor behind rearview mirror.

Replaced with used one, adjusted with SD and all is good.

Ur welcome. :)
Thank you for posting the solution to this.

I never realised that this might control the dash lights, where did you disconnect the OCP ?

Thanks

Disconected connector at rain/light sensor and followed cable to OCP...

Then ignition on position Nr.2 and you'll get bright orange dash clock. :)

Of course, also check cables first. Upper rain seals there could not be wheatherproof anymore.
