I have recently brought a 1985 500sec, and I knew that the foglights were not working (thinking they needed new bulbs), so after fitting bulbs ,I now find that with any lights switched on, the light alarm buzzer is on all the time (ignition on or off). Has anybody come up against this in the past?

Lights on alarm buzzer

Could it be that the relay has shorted out, and needs replacing? This could be connected with two non-working bulbs...

Either that, or the warning buzzer is the reason the broken bulbs were left in! ;-)

Where's Andy, when you need him, eh?

Good Luck.

Lights on alarm buzzer

Thank's Gareth, I will try the relays and hope that I get a result,  because after going for the obvious (bad earths, fuses etc ) I am getting lost at what to look at next.
Regards Bev.

Lights on alarm buzzer

Hi Bev,

The buzzer if my memory serves me correctly is part of the clock assembly. If you want to disconnect it. Drop the osf under tray.Or remove the clocks. On the steering lock assembly. You will find a small black retangualr object with a black lead of it. Disconnect it. This should  disconnect the buzzer. This is the switch for the buzzer which operates when you pull the key out.

Why its doing it I can't say.

Good luck

Lights on alarm buzzer

Hi Andy, it's good to hear from you. Thank you for the info, as to why the buzzer is on constantly, i am finding all sorts of electrical probs! The main alarm is not working either and I am having fun (not!!) trying to trace some of the faults. Other than that, the car seems to run fine. Oh, before I go does anybody Know where I can purchase a Manual with wiring diagrams? Thanks again.

lights on alarm buzzer

This is an old thread that I thought I would pick up hope someone can help me unravel.

Since having a new Barrel fitted on my SEC the alarm buzzer for the "lights left on" does not work. Have read about loom not connected at barrel or something else - not actually looked to see as if left off.

Question - is the fact that the light in the switch no longer goes on, the result of a bulb failure which could be affecting the buzzer or is it the disconnected buzzer loom which is affecting the light not going on and buzzer not working?

Further question - to change a bulb in the Heater switches is "just pull hard". but with the main lights switch where you have to pull just to get the fog/spots working I can't imagine that it is the same principal to change/check the bulb - or is it? Don't want to break the switch using grippers and pulling hard if wrong principal.

Thanks
Stuart

Nothing wrong with my buzzer, but I too would like to get the little yellow light in the middle of the light switch working again. I suspect it's just the bulb that needs replacing - but how do you get to it?

Someone must have done this.

Thanks if you can help
