Can somebody explain please what actually happens when the engine goes into Limp Mode.

I am aware that the power output is limited and the engine cannot rev much above 3000 RPM, but how is this achieved?

Is it something that happens within the fuel system? and if it is, what??

Is it something that happens withing the turbo boost system? and if it is, what??

Thank you
