Line in for an iPod

In another thread about fitting an iPod in an S class
Guy wrote "do you have the CD changer? if not - then why not use the line in of the CD changer as the line in of the ipod?"
I would like to commect my iPod to my E class (W210) and I do not have a CD player.
Is finding the line in a difficult job?
