I've yet to own a convertible that never leaked and I've had a few ( convertibles) Strangely my SL is dry (at the moment!)Tonight's job will be to bring the 230 out of the nice warm dry garage and leave outside for what part of the storm we receive so I can put the Z4 in garage to dry out the boot with all its electrics and 3" of water. Not only R230's suffer from cr@p boot sealing.

An E46 is an itch that I get quite often in M3 format, coupe though, I'm not one for 4 seat convertibles. My SL is stored in doors so no chance for it to leak or for me to know whether it would given the chance - but my E46 M3 Convertible was always left outdoors and never leaked at all...
Took the r230 out yesterday for a run around the block. Put the windows down and lo and behold the left ones wouldn't go back up.
Bollocks to it. Back on the drive and cover on. Something to sort another day.
Yeah this is both windows down.

Underside tidy up - R230 edition
Morning all, Some of you might have seen my ABC Suspension overhaul thread, here. While working on the ABC I noticed bits of rust here and there, and decided I would remove (along with the front) the rear bumper and side skirts as well as all body panel and perform a thorough inspection. Well in the best traditions of the r230 I went out to it last night to empty the dehumidifier (pulled out about 2 gallons in the last fortnight but that could be down to the window being open) and thought 'lets see if the window works and it went straight up.I am having similar thoughts with an old Rega turntable. I have re-soldered the phono plugs twice and the thing works fine on the bench, when tested with a meter. As soon as I take it in the house and plug it into the amp, one channel drops out. It is like it is laughing at me.
I almost gave up, but with a new day comes new hope. I have ordered new plugs and will try again. It is too good to give up on.

Dehumidifier emptied, door closed and cover on.
Normally put dehumidifier in the footwell. Depending on make and model you will have to regularly empty the water they remove from car interior. The de-humidifier will require connection to the electric mains so that needs careful consideration. If condensation and water leaks are not a major problem you might get similar results with large made for the purpose silica gel bags (about size of two house bricks). Plenty for sale on Amazon and e-bay. I have a couple that are under front seats at rear. I can regenerate them by drying them out in a very low temperature oven. If too high a temperature the plastic backing will melt! Ask me how I know.Where are these located in the car and what are they for / what do you need to do to keep them clean / empty / in good cond?
