Well i know a question similar to this has been posted but basically i have had a nightmare with my car, botched paint job, guy who did also seemed to have screwed the drivers seat up as i plant my bit in it and sink to the right!!!!!!!so i poked around underneath and there is a broken/loose length of metal rod about 3mmm in diameter that he somehow broke it!. when i force the two broken ends together the seat retains its firmness but when i put any pressure on it the thing collapses. I haven't taken the seat out yet but is this rod something that can be welded or replaced by someother makeshift material?any advice would be appreciated, and as for getting the paint guy to won up to it, well i cant just yet got keep him sweet so to sepak so he can re-spray all the parts that he screwed up, but by golly once he finishes it i will have a right go at him

I had this problem on a 190 about 7 years ago. You can buy the seat suspension system and it is easy to replace, it cost about £120 when I did it. You have to take out the seat but it should only take about an hour from start to finish. Maybe before you fork out for new part you could take out the rods and take them to a welding shop to see if it could be repaired. None of the upholstery needs to be touched, just have a go you can't go wrong.

I might be wrong with the price it was 7 years ago. Check with MB but I would try the repair option first.

Broken seat springs on 190E

I had the same problem and overcame it by sliding a piece of tube over the two broken ends therby joining them together.
