Does anyone know or can anyone recommend a good garage in Chelmsford / Essex area?
Need someone that knows Mercedes and the imfomous om651 engine.

No, it’s the last week of the month so it oil change time

End of the month his car gets special treatment and its both engine and gbox, hence the delay

Bit of a tough one buddy , you have Waterhouse MB who are sort of main dealer , but they have a shop in Braintree which is less under the Main Dealer umbrella .
There is a German car specialist in Chelmsford , which is called “PMW”
Otherwise for Indy I go to Alex Crow , Stowmarket ,Suffolk .
There is one in Romford , Gem-tech but I can’t speak for them .
Alexander Foti , is over the bridge in Tonbridge , Kent , he knows his stuff as well and is on the forum always giving free advice

I have heard good things about Waterhouse, even though they are a main dealer, I know of a few members who have used them and found them pretty reasonable. There is also Alex Crow in stow market, right by the station so easy trip back to chelmsford.

Thank you for this. Will have to try Waterhouse one day. Only issue I may have is that they do cars only. I've got a v class which is a car but being Vito based I don't think they'll touch it. Had that problem with my VIANO a few years back

Yes, just wish it was a hit closer. At the moment I'm using a local family run garage, they're all practically born in the garage. Knows their stuff but not specifically MB so as cars gets more computerised I'm not sure if they are the best ppl to go to.

So I finally booked my 65reg v-class (60 000miles) in with Alex which is a really nice bloke. This is after my local garage had a look and could find the fault. Low boost pressure on turbo A according to diagnostics, car goes into limp mode. Alex has had the car for 3 days and can't find exactly what the fault is, he believes it's a flap connected to the turbo but isn't sure so won't do any more work as he can't be sure. Fair enough.
I'm back to square 1 and it looks like it might need a new turbo but there's no guarantees that'll fix it. Alex suggested maybe having Merc look at it but I know I won't be able to afford that, and there's no guarantees they'll find the fault.
Last hope is someone I know from my sons sport. He's got a garage and star, knows Mercedes as well so fingers crossed.
I'm just a bit peed off that a 6 year old vehicle with 60k miles will possibly need a new turbo...
