Good afternoon all,
New to the forum and new to MB. Took the plunge on a slc 450, so here we go , rollercoaster of classic MB emotions.
I am out of the country and need to get the car collected and serviced, anyone know of a good specialist in Middlesbrough area? Spoke to Merc Tec but they seem to be more focussed on current models now.
Car will need a fluids and filters service and mechanical once over etc.
Next, the conumdrum of wheel /tyre combinations. The car sits on 14 painted steel wheels and i think it would look better on larger alloys. As such thought 16" would be the route to go, seems everyone is agreed that 7.5 x 16 is the size but i have seen offsets of between 11 and 27mm, then either 205/60 or 215/55 tyres as recommended. Then use of spacers, rubbing on trackrod end etc.
So can anyone enlighten me as to what the no faff 'plug and play' wheel & tyre combo ahould be and whether 16" is the way to go. I have no real preference as to whether the wheels are bundt 8 hole or manhole. If anyone has an old set of wheels kicking around that will do the trick please reach out.
