Hi

The lock cylinder does not come away seperate from the handle. If replacement is required. Then the whole lock has to be removed. To do this open the door. Remove the door rubber around the area of the handle. Behind there is a screw or allen key. Remove this and give the handle a little tap away from the door edge. Then insert the key and turn 90degrees. Give a jiggle and it should come out. Refit reverse  as described.

Good luck

Door Lock W123 Series

Did you have any luck with your locks. I have just registered so I haven't had a chance to see this any earlier.

I have just reconditioned all the locks on my 230TE W123. It has been standing for some time so I was lucky to get into it at all.

The door handles can be removed by undoing two small screws which can be found just inside the door probably under a plastic cover. You will need to remove the door trim to release the front of the handle held by a single screw. A bit of jiggery pokery to release the bar connecting the handle to the lock and away it comes.

The alloy of the lock often corrodes as does the spring which returns the handle to the closed position. You will need to force out a pin and the barrel will come out along with a circular spring and the contact. Be careful as the brass slides may fall out. Unlikely as they are probaly wedge solid. Especially the ones to the rear. The brass slides can be pushed out from behind and the springs carefully pulled out. They are vey small and will easily break. The brass slides are numbered so make sure that when reassembled they go back in the same order. Clean the slides with fine wet and dry and lubricate with 3 in 1 and reassemble. It doesnt actually matter if all the slides go back in if you cannot get them to retract and come foreward under spring pressure.

Consider yourself fortunate that you don't have an estate. Removing the rear lock is a pig.

Forgot to mention that you will have to disconnect the vacumm central locking system from the door handle.
