locked in park

my 99 s500l has been stood on drive for 4 weeks.
recharged battery engine starts ok but it is now locked in park.
any ideas.
never had a problem with this before.

Hello and welcome to the forum. 2 things here, could be the brake light switch and not 100% sure till later in the day or the inter lock.

You could disconnect battery gain for 10 mins and try again, not with the key in the lock, though you do not have DAS.

If you do not have keyless-go, bang the top of the gearstick with the palm of your hand whilst gently pulling out of park with the other hand.
