How did you do that - the car shouldn't autolock once a door has been opened?

ask the breakdown guy about it - that shouldn't happen. Once you've opened the door, the autolock should be disabled.

Yes it does still lock if the key has not been inseted in the ignition.

Is that unique to B Class?

My C Class definately doesn't and neither do any of the other 3 makes of car we own. I have wash them all and the drill is always to unlock them then open & close the door. They don't relock.

Locking keys in the boot is far too easy on cars that have remote boot opening but mine's an estate so doesn't have that anyway.

My B200 has locked one of the back doors and won't open no matter what I do. Anyone got an idea how I can get the door open?

TBH why haven't you got yourself a spare key, £190 would be a lot cheaper and more convienient than if you actually lost your one and only key!

Hope the breakdown guy can gain entry for you.

Push the door inwards while at the same time thump the door handle area as hard as you can with the heel of your hand.
Or
Drill a tiny hole in the door pin and screw a self tapering screw into the hole so as to pull the pin upwards… new pin top requied after you have fixed the root cause of the fault.

Would it not be easier just to remove the door card and inspect the mechanism (--causing no damage.)

I don’t think a door card can be removed…without damage… while the door is shut, that’s definitely the case in a w202, how about your own car?

Spot on impossible without expensive damage.

I think a tiny hole frilled in the top of the button is a good one too, or maybe the knob can be levered up with a thin knife

A second key wouldn't help in every situation. Think of it this way, if he travelled to a neighbouring country in Europe by car and locked his key inside. Would the second key at his house in the UK help in this situation? No! It would still work out cheaper to have someone unlock the car there for him for a pittance than travel back to the UK at an additional expense to get the second key and still travel back again to get the car unlocked.

To pull button up -don't mess around with drilling, just superglue a bit wood dowelling or such-like to the top of the button. Don't leave it too long before pulling the button up and it's not difficult to remove the glue etc.before it finally cures. Trial and error, and clean up between attempts.

I said if you lost your only key you will seriously regret not buying a spare earlier!
