Hi, well with a red face I need some advice. Battery went flat on my 1995 C180. Charged it over night and went to put it back into my boot and found I had locked it and no power to open it.
Only have one key which would not open the boot. Goes in OK but will not turn in any direction, but the button will press in. The key opened my passenger door no problem so I have access to the inside and engine.
Took the back seats out to find no entry!! Took the first aid box out and still no access.
Please advise my next move. Looked at some posts and some mention wiring up to the engine . Please advice is this possible and what are the risks if my battery cable inside the boot is touching body/earth. Where do I attach the jump leads to my now charged battery. All I need is to get some power to open central locking, all of which was working great before I C---ed up!
thanks
kevin

firstly spray some wd40 directly into the keyhole and let it soak in after 30 mins or so gently work the key from side to side and it should free up. cheers dave:) if this doesnt work cole from mbs (sam unit) helped me out in similar circumstances

Get in by key if you can but failing that open the bonnet, at the passenger side bonnet hinge, remove the large plastic cover and you will see what is pictured below.

Open black box and put a Positive + power supply to 2 or 3 and the Negative wire to a good unpainted metal earth/ground point on the chassis and operate the key fob or the switch on the dash.

Because the battery cable (Red on left of bottom picture) is so rigid it is probably still hanging in mid air like the one in bottom picture where the battery is removed.

If you have a tool that vibrates then hold it on the key while trying to turn it and this can jiggle the tumblers and release the lock

i found wd40 will dry out again so put some grease in a tube and hold open shutter for key and pack the grease in as this will keep out the water work the key a few times and put more grease in

then this should not happen again i striped mine before and greased all of it and its so easy to open its great

Would this work on a C230 with the same problem.
