Got two sets sitting in the shed going rusty:twisted:

Shame that I cant use them as I have 3 sets of wheels now, but only one car, so I have the AMG 111, the SL600 and the SL65 wheels, the way that prices are falling I could buy some cars to put them on:rolleyes:

I cant decide on the tyres. I do not know whether to up the sidewall a touch and go from 285 x 35 to 285 x 40, this will increase the sidewall height 8.75mm, and give much more protection from pot holes, they are also much cheaper , but will it upset the Comand

Lock nut combinations

Hi All

Would I be correct in thinking that there is a practical limit to the number of combinations for a given make of lock nut? Mercedes, for example, are there about a 100 (say) combinations?

I believe Phil the figure is 65

MB will only sell one when you have driven the car to them and they can find the correct one that fits, so at least they know that the car was genuine

Lock nut combinations

Hi Malcolm

You confirmed my belief that the number of combinations were fewer than 100. I picked that number out of the air.

I suppose the possibility of a wheel thief acquiring a full set of lock nut adapters is pretty remote, although not impossible?

Acquiring MB wheel nuts

Hi Malcolm

What about a 'less than honest' MB employee, or ex-employee, acquiring 'spare' nut adapters, or are these tools rigorously controlled from manufacture to point of sale? In other words, they are most unlikely to go 'missing'.

I doubt if there are any security problems, I have never seen a post on here where wheels have been stolen
