Locking 'Screech'

My A Class intermittently emits a 'screech' sort of sound when locking with the key fob. I have been told it could be the device that locks the filler cap, though its difficult to tell aurally.

Anyone else comes across this?

that would be my first guess - try locking it with the flap open.
