Ive just overheard a rather disturbing conversation with two of the blokes at work here. Apparently there are certain cars (older German one's was the phrase used) Whereby you can force air down the lock barrel, and the locks will open. This was done by cutting a tennis ball in half, putting it over the lock and one hard push...the doors are open.

I wolud imagine this would only be possible with cars with air / vacuum operated locks.......need i say more?

Please tell me it isnt true!!!!

Matt.

I heard this years ago when Rover brought out the SD1, but i have never tried it, so can't comment. It's not really the done thing in my job to be an expert on breaking into cars, unless there is a "little old lady" involved.

It would have to be some bit of kit . I have heard of this with VW's because their locks are on the body work .

But , think about it , you would need a Co2 cannister and a small sealed nozzle to achieve this with a mercedes barrell on the door handle.

Or will i be quiet before anyone starts getting ideas?

I've heard this rumour too, years ago.

I think thin slivers of metal between the side glass and door skin is probably a more realistic tool of the criminal trade.

And before anyone asks, I saw it on a TV programme about repo men.

Honest ;)

german cars are dead easy to break into involving nothing more than a screw driver and knowing where to go for.

Vw audi porsche and mercedes (early models) have a weak point under the door handle lock assembly. I know this cuz some tosser broke into my vw back in the day and to fix the lock etc i had to study the assembly.

go to euro car parts and you can get a thing that fit round the door handle giving the dorr skin a little more protection
