For the past 6 years, I have been using MBS, Hazel Road, Southampton for all servicing and repairs. Good work and happy people

However, due to an unfortunate incident this past week, I have parted company. They went ahead with full repairs to get my car through an MOT despite me clearly instructing them not to do so.

It was due to the daughter of the owners clearly not listening. The mother did try to help to stave off a legal fight but not only was the entire project a waste of time, but the attitude of the daughter stank so much that even when we are settled, I have really sadly decided to move on

Who else can anyone recommend for Mercedes servicing in Southampton?

Thanks

MBS are a well respected Mercedes specialist on this forum. I use them even though I live in West Yorkshire...

^+1.
Despite your problem with them, due to an instruction not being carried out for reasons we don't know, that should not taint the fact that MBS do a great job of repairing/servicing your car.

If you are adamant on using another indy, I'd go further down the M27 to PCS in Horndean. You'll get a similarly great service there too.

MBS have been my garage of choice for the last 5 years. But due to them not having any courtesy cars available, I have started using PCS in Horndean (I live in Portsmouth). Both have been excellent - so far! Shame MBS have put you off :(

What a shame. I hate to see well respected companies get feedback like this. No one is infallible.

I think if the service is generally good and you have been let down by an intermediary of the copany then give them a second chance. As long as they know the issue and are sincere about it then thats a plus, no.
The again the customer is always right!

I recently had to take my business elsewhere as they've stopped working on cars made before 2000, a strange decision as they say they are a specialist and like the OP, the owners really couldn't have cared less.

I have been using Auto Barn out at Sutton Scotney, Pentangle MB were on a 5 week waiting time the last time I tried.

some interesting posts here, not working in cars made before 2000, anywhere that turns customers away for a reason like that is odd.

when customers say a business couldn't care less - thats a worrying sign

It depends, the business could be so busy they can’t take on older vehicles as they could easily block a lift and therefore mean other planned work can’t be completed.

It’s very easy to register on a forum and complain. There’s always at least two sides to any story.

That's a little dismissive considering both Ashley and I have been long term customers for a number of years at MBS. You wouldn't dismiss a compliment in the same way.

I hope they have a rethink if not just in the communication department, manners cost nothing. I'll say no more on the matter.

Companies good or bad shouldn't really be bad mouthed on here, its not what the forum is about. The majority of companies are going through a tough time at the moment as it is.

I would tend to disagree, a forum is also for posting opinions, many posts on here ask for recommendations about garages and this can can only be given based on experiences good or bad.

Indeed companies are going through a bad time, but then they should step up thier game if possible towards customers to ensure they dont fold. Treating customers innaproipately is burning the candle from both ends.

The customer is always right.

That said the two posts on here being dismissive are from new posters, lets turn it around, anyone still using MBS and how is the service?

Blobcat drives a considerable distance to use MBS, as do some others. However of course not everyone likes the ways everyone else operates, all personal choice.

Service was great, I was one of the first in post restrictions being lifted. Full service and ATF change, car given a good check over and no issues to report - that's why I take it there, so they can check and advise on overall condition and not just service and tell me I need my brakes changing... They also had a SLS on the ramp when I was there and they were fully booked.

My Porsche and Landy specialist are also absolutely flat out with work. I booked the Porsche and Landy in for August, Porsche actually went in mid September and the Landy won't get worked on until November - good garages and mechanics are flat out with work.

I agree a good business is always busy..I think there is now a new opportunity .cars before 2000 will likely be a slower turn around, and at times longer to find parts. Its just a regrettable fact. And busy places can older cars blocking the facilities .a bummer, but wot to do all mine are over 17 yr old except 4x4 .but then I fix all my own stuff.
No excuse for bad manners tho,if thats the case.? I think,do the work send letter explaining why you wont be able to in future. Thats it.

Yup. I make no secret of where I take mine, it’s flat out with cars of all ages, from my 2000 model year, an ‘05 CLK55, an 03 ML, a year old E63, an ‘04 E320 wagen, the whole gamut age & beauty on display.

I don’t expect you will as it will be a private matter between the parties. Quite difficult for any small business these days with so much social media
