Two Indie's in Glasgow, T.J. O'Neill, Carntyne Ind. Estate, and Gough & Thomsett, Anniesland Trade Centre, Anniesland Road, both come recommended on the forum.
I personally have had a couple of good experiences with breakers 'Mercland', of Southampton (with next day delivery!)

Good Indie - South Lanarkshire

If your looking for a good Indie in the South Lanarkshire area, I'd recommend Alan at Carluke MOT Centre in Carluke. He's a time served Merc mechanic, we've never been disapointed yet. The guy knows his Mercs!

i went to "deutschmarque" in edinburgh for my CLK stuttering problem .. I called them before I went, the guy said they are busy but If i bring my car over he would check it for me. I took my car to them at time he asked. When i went there I was told by reception that they are busy today so I have to come some other day. I kinda got angry as I travelled quiet a few miles to get to them. Then at the end this guy came and said okay he will have a look at it . He did diagnostics.and told me its either air actuator or air mass flow meter. Charged me £35 for diagnostics. which i think is standard. I was told that someone will call me back in an hour to confirm what date i can bring the car for repair and availabilty of parts. but noone did. I called them the next day. and they said will call you back.Call them again after 4 days and still got the same answer. Finally got a call back saying that they are locating the part and will call me back in an hour. and its been a month now and I havent recieved a call from them.

What makes me dissapointed in them is that it wasnt a big job to get the part . Eurocar parts , which is the local merc and BMW car part supplier has both the parts. they mostly charge same price as Merc Dealer itself. However, at the end I got part from DRONSFIELDS mercedes. and got it installed at local garage.

So from personal experienceI wouldnt recommend deutchmarque.

The cars in the scrapies, around central Scotland, seem to vary quite a bit. I went back to the one around Bonnybridge and the cars had gone.

A thread as to where the cars are lying would be handy...it would save me driving around to find parts.

I have not recommended Deautchsmarque, just aware that they are M-B/BMW specialists. Their sales people leave a lot to be desired but I have experience of Howard-Johnston cars and they are v good indeed

My experience of Deutsch Marque is actually positive in the main. I've only used them three or four times and aside from the fact that they are expensive (naturally) they were pretty helpful in diagnosing problems on my car when I first got it. Some of this was obviously speculative and taken with a pinch of salt but some of it was good and was followed up on. Pricing was clearly laid out in the estimate and was kept to - no hidden costs at all I'm happy to say. I was also offered a month of reduced labour costs (charged the lower servicing rate for all work instead of being charged a higher rate for repairs etc) which was great - saved me about £40 in labour costs and VAT. There's one guy there who is the in-house Merc specialist and he's okay to deal with and likes to talk Mercs if asked. Bit hassled though so perhaps don't ask him how his day is going (if you're a gasser like me that is!). Customer care is nothing special - never dealt with the sales team, only service and they're just pretty much down the line, don't kiss your arse and don't treat you like one either :)
